Holbox Gastronomic Festival 2013

Holbox Gastronomic Festival is organized by the Holbox Restaurant Association.   This will be the Second Annual Holbox Gastronomic Festival October 16 – 20 showcasing the best dishes from the region’s top chefs and also local dishes.   The festival will be held from the 16-20th October, from 2.30 pm until late.

Holbox, a small island, just 26 miles long, off the coast of Cancun and this event draws both  locals and tourists to this beautiful island located just northwest of Cancun.   Visitors can admire the natural scenery of Holbox as they stroll down the streets lined with picturesque Caribbean-style houses and sample the great restaurants and local cuisine.  There will be food, wine, tequila and mezcal tastings and live entertainment each evening.

Chefs from Holbox’s restaurants will participate in the event and will showcase their tempting and unique specialty dishes, which include fresh seafood like lobster pizza and stuffed squid.  Renowned Mexican Chefs Ricardo Munoz and Roberto Solis, among others, will also be there this year.  Other special guests are Marco Beteta, Mexican artist, entrepreneur and creator of spa and restaurant guides in Mexico; Deby Beard, writer and wine and food enthusiast; Chef Roberto Solis, owner of Nectar Food & Wine in Merida; and Chef Ricardo Munoz, named “Prophet and preserver of culinary tradition” by TIME Magazine and considered one of the top chefs in Mexico and Latin America.

Visitors can purchase a one-day festival bracelet at the reception desk of Hotel Arenas in Isla Holbox for approximately $30 ($350 Mexican Pesos), which includes all festival activities for that day such as tastings at the beach and an international blues, tango and jazz night. Several island hotels are offering special packages that include everything from hotel stays, festival tickets, transportation, spa treatments, excursions and more, and are available for purchase at http://www.gastronomicaholbox.com . Participating Holbox hotels include: Hotel Casa Sandra, Hotel La Casa de las Tortugas, Hotel Las Nubes, Hotel Villas Flamingos, Hotel Villas Paraiso del Mar, La Palapa, Hotel Arenas, Casa Barbara, Takiwara, Casa Lupita and Hotel Amaite.  You can also purchase tickets at La Europea shops in Cancun.
