Rick Barry, the legendary basketball Hall of Famer, hosts Basketball Camp in Cancun.
The Pioneers Club of Quintana Roo and the Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) hosted a basketball camp on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, with legendary NBA player, Rick Barry, one of the 50 greatest players in the world’s top basketball league.
The camp, which was held at the Poliforum Benito Juarez, invited all parents to take their children to Quintana Roo’s house of basketball to participate in the variety of activities as well as take part in the camp’s events.
Richard (Rick) Francis Dennis Barry III is a former NBA player, who played for teams such as the New York Nets, Houston Rockets, among others. He was born March 28, 1944 in Elizabeth, New Jersey and is considered one of the greatest forwards in history.
He played as a professional both in the NBA and the ABA, and is the only player in history to lead both leagues, as well as the NCAA, in scoring in a single season. In his professional career he scored more than 25,000 points.
Barry was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987 and later in 1996 was voted one of the greatest 50 players in the NBA’s history, joining other great players such as Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Karl Malone, Irving “Magic” Johnson, among others.
