If there are any sportfishing enthusiasts out there then Cancun is the place to go. It is one of the best sportfishing hotspots of the world.
You can find several marinas that offer sportfishing excursions in and around Cancun. If fishermen prefer a dash of Mayan ruin exploration with their sport then Cancun Mexico is the place to go. Both Mexican and American-owned charters are available. “I just got a report of a group of anglers aboard a 61-foot boat out of Mujeres who caught and released 120 sailfish in a day, and I guess they ran out of bait.”
One of the most popular places is in beautiful Puerto Aventuras which is about 40 minutes from Cancun on the Cancun – Tulum corridor. The marina here is dotted with little restaurants offering all types of food where you can sit and enjoy the laid back atmosphere in this stunning marina. There is even somewhere you can swim with dolphins or watch others while you enjoy a fresh cup of coffee or an icecream.
The nutrient rich waters in the reefs around Cancun attract large numbers of fish so you have a great chance of a prize catch which will differ according to the season. We have just started the summer season where the most popular catches are marlin, tuna, sailfish and mahi-mahi. Sportfishing is on a ‘catch and release basis’ in Cancun.
If you want to see more information about where you can book a fishing trip or even charter a boat for your adventure you can take a look at our information website www.cancun.travel.
